Alan McCoy visited KPL the weekend of July 18-19 and took these photos of the Buddha statue in the main shrine room. The priming of the statue’s surface had just been completed—leaving it a smooth golden tan— in preparation for the gold-leafing process. The niches to each side of the Buddha were covered to protect the various rupas during the ongoing work.
Alan remarked that the beauty of the shrine room is more and more evident as it comes closer to completion. And that it’s inspiring to know that our contributions, big or small, are helping make it happen.
