Jigme Chokyi Sengge, also known as Pel Trakthung Gawe Yeshi Dechen Barway Dorje, was born in 1836. Recognized as the reincarnation of Zurmang Lama Karma Sungrab Trinley Rabgye by Pawo Tsuklag Chogyal, he was enthroned and studied under Situ Pema Nyinje and other great masters. He then came to know himself as the reincarnation of Kyodrak Choje Sonam Sangpo and received teachings of the Six Yogas of Barompa as direct transmission from the celestial dakinis. This master contributed greatly to the Buddha’s teaching in general and to the lineage of Barompa in particular. Under his tutorship, many disciples such as Kagyu Tashi rose to prominence.
