About the Practice

Kunzang Palchen Ling offers a monthly Chöd practice via Zoom led by Lama Nyima. Everyone is welcome to attend; however, those wishing to actively participate in the practice are encouraged to first receive the lung (reading transmission).

The Chöd practiced at Kunzang Palchen Ling comes from the pure visions of Terchen Barway Dorje. Chöd is unique among Tibetan Buddhist practices in that it is traditionally said to be the only Dharma to have traveled from Tibet back to India, whereas most Buddhist teachings made the journey from India to Tibet.

The word Chöd means “to cut.” Through this profound practice, we seek to cut through the root of ego-clinging and self-centeredness while making vast offerings for the benefit of all beings. Lama Tratop has described Chöd as one of the sharpest methods for severing attachment to the self.

The liturgy practiced at KPL, A Feast of Twofold Bodhicitta, is a powerful practice that cultivates both relative bodhicitta (compassion) and ultimate bodhicitta (wisdom) simultaneously.
