Guru Yoga is the means through which we accomplish the Guru, Calling the Guru from Afar is a means of directly hooking the Guru’s blessings into our heart. In the Vajrayana we rely on the Guru for everything. It is our Guru that can dispel obstacles and bestow spiritual accomplishment. Therefore, it is essential that we never forget our Guru. In order to appeal to the guru with an attitude of one pointed faith we use Calling the Guru From Afar. This text (Barway Dorje Guru Yoga) also helps us to fully appreciate and understand the true qualities of the Guru.
